Which is better, Windows or Mac? With the release of Mac OSX Leopard, many people are wondering if they should buy a Mac or a PC. If you buy a Mac, you will get Leopard, and if you buy a PC, you will get Windows Vista. But what are the differences in these two operating systems and how will they affect you?
First I want to say that I use Windows Vista. Not because I have to, but because I want to. It has some good features, as well as some annoying ones. But with the release of OSX Leopard, my interest is peaked. I now want to try it out and see what it can do for me versus my PC. I know that sounds like cheating. But without trying it out, you may be stuck in a very long marriage with Windows without knowing if there is something out there better for you.
First I will talk about Vista. From a gamers standpoint, you either have to use Windows XP or Vista. Mac has support for a lot of games, but not the ones I play. As for the question, "Is Vista better than XP?" I can't say that it is any better, but I haven't had any trouble. It works the same in both systems with my lower end video card, processor, etc. But Vista does add some cool options. No better functionality, but cooler options. The sidebar is cool with the weather and RSS feeds. There are hundreds of other "gadgets" as well that make my life easier. I do disable the sidebar before playing any games though.
One of the more impressive features of Leopard that caught my eye was the time machine. You plug in a Mac ok'd USB hard drive or flash drive, and it backs up all of your file automatically. Windows does not do any kind of backup automatically without installing a program separate. It saves any changes that you make to any file and keeps a record of all the old ones so that you can go back in time to that old file if you wish. There are many other features that caught my eye as well, but too many to list at this point. So in summation, it is easy to say that Windows will always be a staple in my life. It is also a fair statement to say that I am extremely interested in seeing if there is something better out there than Windows. Windows is better for games, Mac is better for people that want it simple. No further assessments needed. |
